Grand Island High School’s
Student Advisory Council and Student Council Organizations have  joined forces to begin a new tradition. This year we will be hosting our first annual “Vikings for Vets” 5K race at Veterans Park.

The majority of the proceeds from this event will go to WNY Heroes, a local non-for-profit organization that was founded in 2007 to meet the needs of WNY’s Veterans and their families. The mission of WNY Heroes  is to provide veterans, members of the armed services, and the widows and children of deceased veterans with access to essential services, financial assistance and resources that support their lives and sustain their dignity. It is an organization that we are proud to support, and we welcome all who are interested to join us. 

In addition, a portion of the proceeds will be used to support Grand Island’s Student Advisory Council and Student Council Organizations which are dedicated to the continuous support and betterment of the Grand Island Community through volunteer work, charity donations, and community events.

You can pick up entry forms at: 1) The Grand Island Recreation Dept at the Nike Base, 2) Grand Island Veterans Park Concession Stand, 3) The Grand Island Library, Grand Island High School, or you can register online by clicking the "Register Online" tab at the top of your screen.

If you are not able to run, donations are greatly appreciated and will include a shirt as a sign of our appreciation. 


Also, We are asking your business to consider making a donation in support of our upcoming event. IN an added effort to increase our funds this year, the names of businesses and organizations that have donated will be displayed on the event t-shirts within the following categories:    
   
$100-$299 donation – Name on Back of Shirt 
$300 or more donation – Name on Front of Shirt
